My name is India and welcome to my portfolio.
I am a photographer from Rhode Island with a focus in portraits. I received my B.A. in Digital Photography from Southern New Hampshire University. My first encounter with photography started with landscapes and still life photography. I would drive around Rhode Island and parts of Connecticut for hours and take photos of everything I saw. I carried my camera with me all the time and even went on short drives on my lunch breaks.
After posting some of my landscape photos online, I received requests for family portraits and thought I would try it out. After my first portrait session I fell in love with photographing people. Shortly after posting my first portrait session, I started getting other requests for portraits from people I knew. Before I knew it, I was getting portrait requests from people that I did not know. The people that knew me or that I did portraits for would recommend me to other people looking for photographs to be take. I began offering portraits as a service and ultimately transitioned to a portrait photographer. I still take landscape photos here and there and sometimes at an outdoor location while I'm waiting for a client to show up.
My work focuses on portraits of different kinds, from maternity and family related photos to casual and beauty portraits. I love the freedom of creative shoots and the warmth of family related shoots. The creative and styled shoots I do are more of a free flowing and relaxed practice for myself to see what kind of photos I'm capable of taking. The family, maternity, and engagement photos are special because people are trusting me to monumentalized significant moments in their lives. My work is influenced by photographers such as Gordon Parks, Annie Leibovitz, Richard Avedon, Maud Sulter, Manny Ortiz, and more.
The driving force behind my photography is my desire to capture portraits of all kind and to provide my clients with quality work and service. I continue to build my skills as a photographer and fill my portfolio with works of different kinds. The purpose of this portfolio is to showcase my skills as a photographer and my love for photography.
